A arvore morreu em razão de sombreamento, em visita ao local no dia 16/10/2019 com a presença do Engenheiro Ambiental Ulisses Bifano Comini, foi orientada a mudança da placa e replantio do Ipê-amarelo na Avenida da Agronomia em frente ao Prédio do Centro de Ciências Exatas.
